THE ONLY HAIR TOOL YOU'LL EVER NEED? INSTYLER IQ REVIEW

The InStyler IQ* rotating iron offers an alternative to traditional curling irons and flat irons- by combining the best of the two worlds. (*this review is based on the professional iron available only at salons. The consumer version is available at Target but doesn't offer all of the options listed here) The Beauty Snoops have tested the InStyler iron on several hair types and here are our results.

Why you'll love it:
-Adjustable temperature
-Rotating barrel spins both directions with sensor technology to detect desired direction
-2 sizes of barrel for curl variation
-Stiff brush bristles guide and smooth hair around barrel
-Long non-twist cord

The down-side:
-Not 'whisper' quiet as described
-Cool touch guard and tip can cause tangling
-Bulky size and weight

The IQ Instyler iron is really advancing technology in the hair world. The use of heat combined with a rotating barrel give a smooth hair cuticle and great bounce and curl all at the same time. Although it does take some practice to use the iron efficiently, once you've mastered the angle and speed at which you use the iron the results are quite remarkable. Our Snoop testers were most pleased with the amount of shine the hair ends up with, as well as the ability to create weightless curls. The only negative issues we had were with both of the included heat guards- one that hovers over the barrel and one that fixes on to the end of the barrel for a 'cool-touch' control option. When the iron rotated we found that stray hair would easily get caught in the guards and cause hair to pull and tangle. This is easily remedied by not using them at all- and we found that they are not necessary for safe use, just be cautious where you place your fingers. Although the iron retails for upwards of $200, the quality is there and this tools should last for years. It can easily replace other heat tools for those with medium curl or straighter hair. For those with curly hair you will need to thoroughly brush the curls out prior to use- and a flat iron may still be a quicker option for you.
