Ok peeps, it's time to get REAL- I'm talkin, no-holding-back, tell-it-like-it-is-REAL! 2013 can be your best hair year yet, but you may have to make some changes to your goals and routine to get there. I am gonna dive in and give you the formula to beautiful hair- you may not want to hear what I have to say, but I promise it comes from a place of love... xoxo
Here it is- say it with me:
I am going to set realistic expectations and embrace my natural beautiful self!
Being realistic with yourself and your stylist will produce the best results for YOU. Although your stylist should offer guidance and suggestions, only you really know your hair styling abilities, and the amount of time you actually spend styling your own hair, and the frequency of your salon visits. If you really aren't able to keep up on your color services every 6 weeks, or you wear your hair in a ponytail almost every day- BE HONEST about it. By telling the truth, you'll get the color and cut that is most well-suited for you. As a stylist, I am not going to judge you (I can rock a messy pony like nobody's business) but I do want you to love your hair. And in order for you to love it after you've left my chair, I need to know the truth, even if it's ugly.
The world has shifted to a more natural state- we are embracing being green, organic, and healthy. Your hair should be no exception. Gone are the days of bleaching every strand of hair on your head, flat-ironing locks into oblivion, or spending hours wrapping your tresses into perfect spiral curls. And thank goodness those trends have moved on! (If you haven't moved on- DO IT NOW)
In 2013 your hair and its' health is in your hands- by choosing colors and styles that work with your natural hair instead of against it, you'll be rewarded with more time in the morning and more compliments from friends. Healthy hair is beautiful hair.
Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to talk you out of visiting the salon and trying new things- after all trying new things is one of the best parts of my job. I am simply trying to express the great satisfaction that can come from an attitude of embracing the unique features that we all have.
Here is to a fabulous New Year, and New Hair!
