THE MET GALA: BEST OF COUTURE PUNK (AND THEN THERE WAS MILEY)

This years Met Gala ranked up there with one of my favorite red carpet events ever. Although the theme of Punk Fashion wasn't received well in some circles, I found it refreshing and fun. Sometimes fashion takes itself to seriously, but this year the exhibit and celebrity filled gala offered a point af view that any kid of the 90's can appreciate. Rock on Met, Rock on!

You can imagine my excitement when I saw so many SPIKED ACCESSORIES walking down the red carpet up the giant stairs into the event. I had a hard time picking just one favorite, but hey I'll take any chance I get to put myself in a photo next to Sienna Miller, right? That photo is from my DIY Spiked Headband Post, and you too can jump on the bandwagon and make your own, less-expensive spiky accessories.

There were so  many other fabulous hair and makeup looks on the A-list guests, and you can look at all the photos over on bellasugar. But, my best and worst look like this...

Now look, I try not to be a celebrity basher- after all everyone has good days and bad. Everyone has outfits they regret wearing... but there was a clear divide between those who wore the theme of the night well, and those that should have stayed in their limos...

Sarah Jessica Parker wore a phenomenal mohawk headdress designed by Philip Treacy, that both embraced the theme, but was so elegant and show stopping. The rest of her look was so well polished and 'on purpose' that you couldn't help but look and admire in ahh.

Miley on the other hand, looked in my opinion-  immature. It was a silly approach from top to bottom and did nothing positive for her image or brand. You can still be the bad girl, and look put together and smart. Edgy and trashy are two very different things. Sorry Miley, better luck next year.

So there you have it- my take on the Met Gala 2013.
