Color WOW, John Frieda, Pureology color refreshing products

It happens to everyone- about 3 weeks after your salon visit the luster in your color starts to fade. It's nobodies fault really... the science just isn't there yet to keep those color molecules in place for much longer than a month. Especially with all the use of heat tools and hot water we are so accustom to. If you have no idea what I am talking about when I say color molecules, go back and scan through this post, where I give a little anatomy-of-hair color lesson.

So when your color does start to fade and become brassy (brassy is stylist speak for orangey :) you may want to try out a color refresher that will help neutralize the unwanted warm tones, and keep your color looking fresher longer.

If you fit into one of these categories, I can help you find a solution:
Brunettes---> Color lightens and turns to a reddish tone
Blondes---> Color dulls and turns golden/true yellow
Red Heads---> Colors fades quickly and looses its depth

Yup? That's You? Ok here is what you need. Many brands offer color refreshers now- which is a great thing but here are the ones I have personally used and seen good results from.

John Frieda Color Refreshing Gloss - These guys are new to the market, available at drug/grocery stores and offer a wide array of tones. Win, win, win! The glaze formula is a gel consistency that needs to stay on for 5 minutes before rinsing about 1-2 times a week. Start applying these about 1 week after you color and you'll keep the tone much longer. I don't find them to be very conditioning, so be sure you still goop on some conditioner post treatment. If you really wanna go for it, you can also throw your head in a shower cap and leave it on longer- but it's quite liquidy so be cautious. To neutralize brassy tones, always opt for the 'cool' version of your color.

Color WOW Brass Banned Mousse - While this formula only comes in two tones, one for blondes and one for brunettes- it is a great way to tone the hair quickly without the waiting time of the others. The blonde formula is a purple tone mousse that counteracts yellow in the hair, to end up with a more pale blonde finish. And the brunette option is actually blue to neutralize the redness that plagues brown haired ladies. It's not a firm hold mousse by any means, so you don't need to worry about looking 'crunchy' but it will give you a little more body and bounce in your style. This is purely cosmetic and will was out with your next shampoo, but the immediate results are great for daily use.

Pureology Reviving Red Enhancer (salon locator) - Redheads (non-natural, of course) know the challenge that comes in maintaining the vibrancy of your color. The molecules in red hair dye are the smallest in size of all the colors, so they are the quickest to washout. Pureology is revolutionary in their color protection science, and the Red Revivers are no exception. They come in two tones; red and copper, and are available in weekly treatment tubes that can stay in the hair up to 20 minutes to redeposit color into the hair, and to add amazing conditioning power. Love these bad boys!

Ok, that's all I got for today! Here is too shiny locks, cheers!
