UNDER EYE CONCEALER BOOTCAMP

Covering up dark circles and brightening the under eye area are one of the biggest pain points I hear about from women of all ages. Genetics play a big role in the state of our under eye area, but so does our overall health, hydration and sleep patterns. When it comes time to apply makeup in these areas it seems like the traditional 'rules' don't always apply and our success or failure really depends on using the correct products for our specific needs. So here is my Under Eye Concealer Bootcamp for better results. [VIDEO HERE]

Left: too light leaving a blue cast still showing through. Right: neutralized and covered.

But first MY NUMBER ONE TIP is to be sure you are in a color that matches your neck... this will be the best tone for your under eyes. Majority of women are using a shade that's too light which can enhance dark circles more, make skin appear more textured, and actually make the makeup itself look more cakey.

Next, determine your #1 priority… no product can do it all, so focus on the one that you need the most help with.

  • GOAL - Overall Brightening / Looking More Awake

  • GOAL - Dark Circle Correction

  • GOAL - Smoothing Skin Texture

GOAL 1 - Overall Brightening

  • Tip - Choose a more lightweight product with light reflecting qualities

  • How to - Apply in a 'starburst' pattern from the hollow of the eye to cheeks and temples and blend LIGHTLY with a brush to brighten the entire ‘mask’ area of your face. Layer for more coverage.

  • Product - ELF Flawless Brightening Concealer // Anisa Angled Concealer Brush

GOAL 2 - Dark Circle Correction

  • Tip - Use the color wheel to neutralize unwanted tones under the eyes. You may need to layer two colors for better results.

  • How to - Apply your corrective color to the discolored areas only. Wait 30-60 seconds before blending for maximum coverage. Then apply your skin match tone over the top to brighten the overall area with a brush.

  • Product - LA Girl Pro Conceal Corrector and Tarte Shape Tape

GOAL 3 - Smoothing Texture

  • Tip - Choose a formula with moisturizing/ elastic ingredients to hydrate and blur texture.

  • How to - Avoid applying concealer too close to the eye where muscle contraction is greatest. Press concealer with your fingertips first working upward towards lashes, (too much product near the lashes results in creasing) then continue to press and blend with a damp sponge for a beautiful glowing finish.

  • Product - It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye // ELF Total Face Sponge
