THE 5 CORE BEAUTY BELIEFS I WISH EVERY WOMAN KNEW

This month on Studio 5, each of the Contributors shared our 5 deepest core beliefs in relation to our own field… a chance to ‘convince me’ ie the audience, of the things that really get our hearts pumping when we get the chance to share. I could have gone down the road of sharing my 5 favorite products, or tips I swear by- but instead I wanted to go down a different road and really discuss the deeper side of what beauty means to me and what I’ve really learned along the way in my 20+ career so far… I hope that these ideas resonate, so thank you for hearing me out!

1- The ONLY way to improve your skills is to experiment

Whether it's makeup, skincare, hair styling... doesn't matter; you'll never get better results if you don't try it a new way. Flip the order in which you apply, try it with a new tool/brush, what happens if I...? Take the time to experiment!!

2- There is POWER in getting ready

I have seen thousands of transformations in my career, where getting ready on the OUTSIDE changes how we feel on the inside instantly. It doesn't have to happen every day, but I believe it should happen more often than it doesn't... power and confidence help us tackle the hurdles we face each day. Self care is a tool to aid us in our journey!

3- Enhance, but always come back to your BASELINE

Partaking in beauty enhancements are great, and do aid in confidence... BUT it can be a slippery slope if we aren't in tune with our natural beauty or our 'baseline' as I like to call it. So things like Botox/filler, or lash/hair extensions, or even a spray tan are all great, but if we aren't careful we can slide too far away from our baseline, and lose sight of what we actually look like.

4- You're never TOO OLD, but your beauty routine is meant to evolve as we age

I get DM's constantly telling me 'I'm too old for...[fill in the blank]', which I disagree with! But I will say that our look and style should be evolving as we age. As our skin changes, our lifestyles changes, our goals change- it would be crazy to think that our beauty routine and the products we use wouldn't change as well! If you LOVE something from the past- but now you feel too old, find a way to update it (by experimenting!) to meet you where you are now. And be willing to let go of things that no longer serve you the way they once did (ahem, black eye liner!).

5- Always start with LESS

You can always add more later- but less is truly more in beauty! Start with lower heat on your hair styling tools, start with less foundation/concealer/blush etc. If the bottle says one pump... only use 1! Stop layering 10 things on top of eachother…Your skin/hair can only absorb so much!

Sometimes we have the 'gimme' mentality, but letting go can be just as important as adding in...
