THOSE PESKY DARK UNDER EYE CIRCLES...

DARK CIRCLES.jpg

Dealing with dark circles is pretty standard for most women- there are genetic factors for many, but also stress, lack of sleep, dehydration and thinning skin play a part. My technique for treating and covering will help tackle this issue, but be prepared for daily and weekly commitment for best results. If your dark circles are a result of genetic factors (your parents most likely also had them) like deep set eyes or lack of fat in the troughs of your eye sockets, you may want to look into cosmetics fillers that can be injected into the area. These last about a year, and can make a huge difference when nothing else seems to help. [video here]

Health Factors to Improve

  • Hydration- drinking more water goes a long way to adding fullness and suppleness to your skin. When you’re dehydrated your under eyes look darker and deeper set, so make a goal to add in a few more glasses of water each day.

  • Sleep- we all know lack of sleep is a contributor to so many health issues, and dark circles are no different.

  • Good Nutrition- there’s always room for improvement here, am I right!?

Weekly Treatment

  • Under Eye Treatment Patches- look for an option that is full of moisturizing ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid. These will plump and hydrate the skin for a fuller look.

    • Freeman Micro Dart Under Eye Patches- these have tiny ‘micro darts’ that penetrate into the skin on a deeper level. They are worn for at least two hours and leave eyes looking so refreshed.

Daily Treatment

  • Retinol Eye Treatment- retinol is the number one ingredient for treating fine lines and wrinkles. So using an eye cream containing retinol twice a day will make the texture around your eyes, so much more smooth… making your makeup look that much better.

    • Pixi Skintreats Retinol Eye Cream- this is a great mid-price range option, it’s gentle enough for delicate eyes, but potent enough to see a difference after continued use.

Makeup Application Tips

  • Layering Two Tones of Concealer will give you best results

    • Start with a peach/orange corrector to neutralize blue and purple under the hollows of the eyes. Blend out the edges, but don’t blend it to the point that the orange tone disappears.

    • Second, layer your skin toned concealer over the top, brightening the entire under eye area down to the cheekbone and out to the temple. I also take my concealer onto my eyelid to cancel out the purple tones there.

Consistency is huge here, and I would also suggest you take a ‘before’ selfie to track your progress after implementing these changes for 30 days. It’s hard to see changes day-to-day, but a month can make a big difference.
